Job Description

We are recruiting for a Not for Profit and Housing provider who are recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their Corporate Finance Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated Finance Team supporting the companies' businesses and charities, where you can see how you can make a real difference to people’s lives through finance.

Paying up to £22k  plus excellent benefits including flexible working, 28 days holiday including Christmas shutdown + bank holidays. The role will be office-based initially but in 2022 there will be a hybrid working pattern of office and home-based working.


Reporting to the Finance Transactions Manager, this role is to work within a team in the Finance department that provides support to various departments within the Calico Group Business Services team in Burnley.

Key responsibilities:

  • Daily administration of the rent accounting system, including tenancy amendments/adjustments/rent refunds and the calculation of Affordable Rent charges
  • Processing of creditor invoices via the Accounts Payable system ensuring all internal controls are adhered to by budget holders to include statement reconciliations, council tax reconciliation, internal customer and supplier queries
  • Purchase Order Processing, raising requisitions for the finance department and issuing reports
  • Processing of sales invoices and intercompany recharges to include account queries and the issuing of sales invoices to customers
  • The creation and update of charges to customers, posting payments received and account queries
  • To ensure payments received are posted to customers’ accounts and include daily uploads, direct debits and manual postings
  • To administer the Right to Buy/Right to Acquire/Leaseholder process for tenants, including liaison with estate agents, solicitors, banks and building societies
  • To assist with the administration of the petty cash float ensuring receipts are obtained and budget codes are provided


  • You will have previous experience of working within a Finance function, housing experience would be advantageous but is by no means essential
  • You will have strong Word and Excel skills
  • You will be an enthusiastic individual with a ‘will-do’ attitude and someone that has the willingness to make a positive contribution to the team
