The Job

Sitting across a number of business operations, this is a flexible role designed to be a key supporting role for the Finance Managers, Assistant Director of Finance and their respective budget holders. The role will provide business support, guidance, and management information, contributing to the business plan and leading the budget process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly budget monitoring reviews, providing guidance and analysis to budget holders
  • Supporting budget holders in understanding significant variances and trends
  • Development and delivery of financial management reports
  • Deliver robust annual budget setting and ongoing reforecasting processes
  • Continued development of financial processes and systems, including the documenting of finance procedures and guidance notes
  • Ensure monthly accounting procedures and control account reconciliations happen
  • Preparation of  timely, accurate and valuable financial management information to deadlines
  • Calculating and understanding Value for Money ratios
  • Supporting the administration of the treasury function and updating cashflows.
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting papers to both the Executive Team and Board for 1st stage review
  • Actively support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts at year end
  • Support where necessary, the quarterly returns to the regulator

The Person

  • You will be an experienced qualified accountant. You must be able to work autonomously and be highly agile and adapt to the changing support nature of this role
  • You will be able to demonstrate a willingness to work at all levels from reviewing to effectively rolling your sleeves up and investigating underlying issues
  • You will be able to spot both quick fixes, alongside the longer term more complex  business process improvement, constantly monitoring business performance is in line with where it should be
  • Advanced excel skills are essential, and a working knowledge of Open Accounts would be beneficial
