The Business Partner will be a proactive supporter of the organisations plan to build over 1000 homes. They will also be part of the company wide business transformation journey, helping shape the Finance function and the Organisation for the future.

The Job

The Strategic Finance Business Partner will support the Strategic Finance Manager in treasury management, cash flow forecasting, and the provision of key financial information. Supporting the Development Team as a practical and collaborative business partner, providing robust budget management,  investment appraisal, and review of proposed schemes.

Key responsibilities

  • Annual budget setting and monthly budget and project monitoring reviews with the Development budget holders
  • Support the Development team to prepare development reports, including associated financial appraisals for new build sites, refurbishment and buyback properties, etc
  • Provide development cashflow data for inclusion into the Business Plan
  • Provision of financial information, including annual statutory accounts and business plan data and timely, financial management information
  • Support the treasury function, reporting the cashflow position, providing information to decide where to invest surplus funds or drawdown funds
  • Complete the quarterly Regulatory returns and FVA, VAT returns, Lender loan compliance quarterly returns
  • Prepare the Group and subsidiary VAT returns
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting papers to both Executive and Board for review
  • Development of financial processes and systems, including the documenting of finance procedures and guidance notes, ensuring compliance with best practice
  • Champion continuous improvement in the efficiency and accuracy of the service to deliver a customer focused, responsive, and Value for Money service

The Person

  • You must be a fully Qualified accountant, with strong work experience in the production of financial and management information, budgetary review and cash flow management
  • You will have strong technical accounting skills including complex control account reconciliations, and attention to detail is essential
  • You must be passionate about helping an organisation build houses and reach its goals
  • You will ideally have experience of supporting a development team and investment appraisals, a working knowledge of VAT and other tax and regulatory returns is desirable
  • You will have a common sense approach to business partnering, with the natural ability to explain complex financial information to a non-finance audience to enable them to make effective decisions. You will enjoy looking for new and better ways of working, embracing new ideas and change
