Job Description

Our client, based in Exeter, is currently recruiting for a Business Systems Analyst on a permanent basis. Our client is proud to support staff with great opportunities and support to develop your career at a forward-thinking and modern organisation


The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The annual salary is £34,500 - £38,000 negotiable based on experience for this position with a car allowance of £2,400.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT Application Systems implementation and experience of managing SQL Databases.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Take a leading role in projects to introduce, configure, and implement new systems and IT services to meet the evolving needs and expectations of colleagues and customers
  • Take a leading role in the continuing introduction and transformation of our new housing management, asset management and repairs systems
  • Leading and managing systems improvement and implementation projects identified within the IT strategy as directed by the Systems Analyst Manager
  • Engaging and consulting with system owners and key stakeholders, providing expert technical knowledge and guidance to continuously improve application systems and processes
  • Identifying and evaluating new business process opportunities, translating this into the application systems architecture to provide opportunities that allow people to work efficiently and effectively
  • Ensuring that any business continuity items are considered within the application systems environment and work across the IT team to ensure that best practice solutions are implemented within the infrastructure for maximum resilience
  • Ensuring that data quality, control and configuration are managed through the project and change control environments to deliver successful and positive outcomes for the business
  • Ensuring that all integration of systems is well designed, documented and robust within the applications infrastructure ensuring maximum uptime for the business
  • Ensuring that the application environments are adequately resourced by the underlying infrastructure and capacity is considered and monitored on a regular basis to ensure fast and responsive access to staff and customers and work with Infrastructure colleagues to ensure pro-active monitoring and resolution is undertaken

Experience required:

  • Have a strong background in IT Application Systems implementation and delivery
  • Have demonstrable experience of managing SQL Databases, writing SQL, and developing ETL processes
  • Have experience of requirements gathering and business analysis techniques and methodologies
  • Have experience of project or work package management, and working within a project team environment
  • Have experience of integrating systems and an understanding of APIs and web technologies


Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Have a good level of general IT knowledge and experience and be comfortable working in a Windows server environment
  • Be a good communicator, able to elicit ideas and convey information in a clear and concise manner for both technical and non-technical audiences, including producing clear and concise documentation
  • Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and guidance taking ownership of issues and seeking resolutions
