Job Description

We are recruiting an Information Governance Officer for a Northwest-based Housing Association for an initial 3 Month Interim role – with potential permanent opportunities available.

Paying up to £31K, plus excellent hybrid and flexible working, coupled with generous holidays and pension etc.


The Job

Reporting to the Governance Manager, you will champion Information Governance across the organisation, providing guidance and advice on general enquiries. You will be the first point of contact for all access to information requests, Data Sharing queries and ensuring Data Sharing agreements are in place, ensuring compliance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, monitor and support business areas to respond to access to information requests, such as Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other requests for personal information in line with current legislation and regulation
  • Conduct Data Protection audits to ensure compliance and proactively address any potential issues
  • Ensure Data Sharing agreements are in place and respond to Data Sharing queries
  • Interface with data subjects as required in relation to their rights under Data Protection
  • Respond to Data Subject Access Requests within the agreed timescales
  • Assist the Governance Manager with the review and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures, taking ownership of all those relating to Data Protection and Information Governance
  • Assist with the management, investigation and reporting of data breaches

The Person

  • You will have a solid working knowledge of Data Protection, information legislation and management, and how these are applied within the workplace. You will have excellent communication skills to deal with internal and external queries. You will have strong IT and administration skills and pay excellent attention to detail
  • You must be able to work autonomously with the team, be self-motivated, proactive and highly organised to respond efficiently and courteously
