The Vacancy

If you're looking for a place to grow your professional skills, broaden your sustainability experience and use your talents to make the world a better place, then you could be the person we're looking for.

We're tackling fuel poverty, cutting carbon and creating biodiverse environments across the East Midlands. We have 10,000 homes, a large care and support service, a 28,000t carbon footprint, and one huge challenge to embed a culture of sustainability across all of our work. Working on the frontline of the UK's environmental crisis, housing crisis and energy crisis, our new Sustainability Officer will work with our Sustainability Manager to deliver our ambitious 5-year Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

The Role

This role is suitable for part-time or full-time, 25-35 hours per week. You'll be expected to spend 1-3 days per week based in our Nottingham office, with flexibility offered wherever possible. Applications are encouraged from those looking for flexible working patterns, part-time hours or job-share.

We're looking for somebody who wants to change the world with us (or at least our bit of it). You'll be working alongside colleagues and customers to create solutions to the UK's climate crisis, housing crisis and biodiversity crisis. It's a big challenge, so to make a difference you'll need to be knowledgeable about sustainability issues, committed to finding creative solutions, and capable of making things happen using your excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. More than anything, you'll see NCHA as a place to develop your talents and make a positive contribution to our communities and the planet.

Requirements

Our new Sustainability Officer will have the opportunity to work across our Environmental Sustainability Strategy. You'll work with the Sustainability Manager to understand problems, innovate solutions and lead positive change. Projects range from retrofitting historic homes through to electrifying our van fleet; from regenerating natural ecosystems to supporting customers to adopt sustainable lifestyles. We don't expect you to be an expert in these challenges, but we do expect a strong underlying knowledge of environmental issues, great research and analytical skills, and lots of commitment to the cause.

Why work with us?

In addition to generous annual leave, development opportunities and company pension, we also have many more amazing benefits at NCHA.

As an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer, NCHA welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates including those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups and disabled candidates. As part of our LGBT Allies Programme, we also welcome applications from members of the LGBT community and encourage inclusivity in the workplace.
