Job Description

This Manchester-based Housing Association is looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join them on a two-year FTC. The role is offering up to £25 231k and is offering hybrid working. The role is 35 hours per week and offers 25 days holiday. The role is predominantly home-based with 1/2 days a week in the office, depending on business requirements.

THE ROLE

If you have experience working in finance and have strong customer service skills this would be the perfect role for you. Strong IT and data analysis skills are ideal and if you want to learn more about Service Charges and a general finance function then this would be a fantastic opportunity. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Service Charge Project Lead and Service Charge Business Partner to develop, implement and maintain systems to monitor service charge income and expenditure to ensure it is being accurately recorded 
  • Effectively administer project costing, including raising and posting journals
  • Ensuring that journals are posted to the correct project ledger code for each scheme
  • Actively monitor systems for recording service charge income and expenditure, ensuring inaccuracies are rectified quickly
  • Support the Leasehold Officer by providing relevant reports and information
  • Produce and circulate the appropriate service charge notifications, including accounts and statements to tenants in accordance with the tenancy agreement and other statutory requirements
  • Produce and circulate the appropriate notification, including annual accounts and statements to leaseholders/shared owners in accordance with statutory requirements and the lease
  • Work with the external auditor of the service charge statements (leaseholders) to ensure timely completion of the audit and resolution of queries

THE CANDIDATE

You will have previous experience of working in a finance team and have general understanding of financial controls, policies and procedures. It is desirable that you have previous experience of working within a housing association environment but this is by no means essential. You will have good interpersonal skills so you can effectively communicate with and provide professional support and assistance to all team members.
