Job Description

Are you a Software Engineer who relishes new challenges? Want to play a lead role in a flexible, outcomes focussed software development team, developing innovative solutions which improve customer and colleague interaction and communication?

Joining our small, highly valued team, you’ll lead them to further build, maintain and support web, mobile, ETL & integration solutions which serve all areas of our business. Reporting to our Head of Business Systems & Development, you’ll be a key technical and subject matter expert - managing the entire software development and engineering process including testing, change management and release management.

We don’t like to stand still, so you’ll be expected to really drive the continuous improvement of engineering practices to improve the efficiency and innovation of solution development that ensure we remain competitive.

Our ideal candidate? 

  • You’ll be a degree qualified software engineer or have equivalent practical experience of Software Development.
  • You’ll have excellent experience of standardising, implementing and driving software development lifecycle methodologies and ways of working.
  • You’ll have technical experience and a proven background of .net development, experience with low-code platforms is also of interest to us.
  • You’ll have practical experience of managing Agile (SCRUM) practices alongside traditional business delivery models.
  • You’ll demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including non-technical audiences.
  • You’ll also be an experienced team leader or manager, who is excellent at building and developing teams which are highly competent and can deliver a broad range of services, maximising the contribution of your team and others through effective leadership.

As a Smart Working organisation you can expect a balance of working from our Birmingham, Bath Row office and remotely from home – typically, 1-2 days per week will be spent working from our Birmingham office, but this may vary depending on business need.
