What is North Star?
North Star operates across the Northeast and North Yorkshire. We own, and manage 4,000 units of high quality, affordable housing including specialist supported housing. We are committed to building homes and futures as well as investing in people at every level.
The “North Star”, also known as Polaris, is a constant in the sky. It’s more than just a single star; it’s a natural beacon that’s been used to navigate for centuries. It provides direction to those who are lost and without any other form of conventional navigation. Stars shine, and we look to them for guidance and inspiration.
Our Organisation is full of North Stars’. Bright people who sparkle, achieving great things, and rising stars who shatter expectations, raise the bar and are great to be around.
What is good about working at North Star?
We are award winning, growing, and thriving as a business. We were the first Housing Association in England to be awarded The Investors in People Platinum standard, which we hold until 2026.
In 2021 we were named UK Employer of the year in The Housing Heroes and Investors in People Platinum awards
We are proud of what we have achieved, as its hard work. We do it because it makes North Star strong and ensures that we can do the very best for and with our customers.
Hybrid working operates throughout North Star. In summary, flexible, agile, and home working is available, and in operation across the business. We all base ourselves in the office at least two days a week, to ensure that we can continue to develop our relationships and culture. This approach was developed by all staff. Dialogue is welcomed on flexible working.
We only employ exceptional people and invest significantly in the development of everyone. People are at the centre of the business, supported by a culture of relational leadership where everyone has a strong voice and influence.
Closing Date for Applications is 25th October 2024.
Assessments/Interviews are scheduled to take place on 6th November 2024
We are a North-East based Housing Association and our purpose is to provide affordable housing, invest in our communities and develop new homes across the Tees Valley, North Yorkshire and County Durham.
We build homes, but more importantly we create futures. We work together to make a difference to people’s lives. This can be seen in the vast, varied and valuable community and tenant connections that we develop. We support a wide range of initiatives, ranging from school breakfast clubs, reading groups and homework clubs, to creating community gardens and green spaces, providing work placement opportunities and supporting local foodbanks. We work in leafy rural areas and areas of real disadvantage.
People are at the forefront of everything we do. Our vision, our values and our organisational strategy are all centred on creating and sustaining great places for people to live and work in. We strive to make a difference and our culture is what sets us apart from the rest.
We hear, we listen and most importantly we act. We embrace challenge and change, continually striving to improve and enhance the lives of our staff and our tenants.
