Job Description

Support Worker

Bristol Foyer

£21,401 rising to £23,653 per annum

Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Young People's Service based at Bristol Foyer.

We are committed to offering short term housing and support to young people aged 16-24 years old who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Our role is to help young people settle from often chaotic lifestyles, start doing something productive towards employment, education or training, teach them the basic life skills required to live independently and help them resolve some of the issues that brought them into supported housing in the first place.

We are looking for someone who is robust and able to work with this often chaotic client group to help them address the issues in their lives and move forward onto independence.

You will be part of a well-established team who work with young people resident in Bristol. You would be expected to deal with any issues the young people may have and signpost them to the appropriate course of action. Knowledge of benefits and welfare reform is essential.

You will need to have a good understanding of young people’s needs, safeguarding and emotional and mental health issues.

The most important part of this role is to have pride in your work and have a positive attitude, a proactive approach and the confidence to support a diverse range of people.  You will be able to balance your passion and commitment with good organisational skills, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.

In return, we provide a generous entitlement to paid holiday increasing with length of service, a pension scheme, a healthcare cash back plan, and great opportunities and support to develop your career.

This role is being offered on a full-time basis, working 40 hours per week on a rolling rota, to include weekend working.  Bandwidth hours will be 7.00am to 10pm.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups and expect all staff to share this commitment. Appointment to the post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

A DBS check is required.
