Contract - Day Rate Accounting

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a popular, not for profit organisation based in Lancashire for a Project Systems Accountant on an interim basis. With a great culture, benefits, and work-life balance, this is a great medium-to-long term contract with a minimum duration of 6 months, and with the number of IT and Finance related projects underway, it is very likely to be extended beyond this.

THE ROLE

As the Interim Systems Accountant, you will work as part of a multifunctional business transformation project team, and act as the link between finance and the business. A project-based role, you will be tasked with reviewing processes from front end to back end, producing process maps, reviewing current systems and processes, making recommendations, and then managing the implementation of various efficiency programs, through to UAT.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support to the relevant project manager during the development lifecycle of projects within the Finance Transformation programme
  • Become the in-house expert and provide local technical knowledge on Ebis/Open Accounts, Civica CX, and other related systems within the transformation project
  • Identify and plan configuration changes to the finance systems
  • Design a new chart of accounts in line with the new/upgraded systems
  • Ensure systems controls are performed, and identify and implement additional control requirements
  • Maintain, build, and amend reports
  • Process improvement, process mapping, KPIs, controls, and risk management
  • Proactively engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation
  • Projects will vary across Finance and Operations including driving the automation of data capture, analysis, and reporting; ensuring data integrity and internal controls are integral to all systems
  • Develop and test new report formats; create test plans and train users on best practice in new systems with test scripts
  • Support UAT and ensure effective go-live

THE PERSON

  • This role requires an Accountant with a passion for systems and strong systems implementation skills. Ideally, you will be qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA, however, they would also consider QBE, with significant experience within system implementation (ideally Open Accounts/Ebis/Civica CX or similar) and process improvement
  • You will have a strong blend of financial and systems experience. A demonstrable track record of process mapping, systems automation, driving efficiencies. Excel modelling skills, strong database experience, and report writing skills having gained prior experience within a similar role
  • You will offer strong communication skills and be able to business partner with a range of stakeholders across finance and the wider business
  • The role offers flexibility of work patterns (PT/FT) and daily rates versus a fixed-term salary dependant on the person and their skillsets/requirements
  • It can be wholly WFH, if not based in the North West, but the flexibility to attend occasional office-based meetings when necessary (post-COVID restrictions) would be beneficial
