Job Description

Data Protection Officer
East midlands

The DPO will be the principal point of contact for regulatory support and guidance, including recommendations on policy and strategy, for all areas of the business and to manage the day-to-day relationship with the Information Commissioner’s Office. To design, implement and maintain a framework for managing data protection risk including responding to changes in legislation, provide appropriate advice and guidance to the business to ensure the regulatory risk implications of new initiatives and projects are properly identified, recorded and addressed devising and owning policies and training. To be the senior expert in data protection and be a leader for change across the whole organisation in terms of culture and behaviours relating to data protection. To be an ambassador externally when representing the organisation in GDPR related work.

 Experience required:

  • Previous management experience
  • Experience in working with ICO at a senior level.
  • Experience in engaging with Board Committees.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and influencing skills with the proven ability to influence credibly at a senior level.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in data protection legislation, regulatory guidance and case law and experience in interpreting legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Experience in developing and working with appropriate performance management tools and processes within the Data protection field.
