After the year we’ve had and with a very different sort of Christmas upon us, we thought it would be the ideal time to treat friends and family to gifts that promote self-care and wellbeing. Take a look at our ideas below for a little gift inspiration.
Books
There are so many brilliant wellbeing books out there but feel-good fiction and cookbooks also make great gifts. Beautifully designed books like Stacie Swift’s You Are Positively Awesome and Meik Wiking’s The Little Book of Hygge make ideal gifts. If you’re posting cards and gifts this year, you could send an Instead of a Card poetry pamphlet which come with an envelope and bookmark with space to write a personal message.
Sleep enhancers
Sleep-related gifts are ideal for those who struggle to get to sleep or simply enjoy a good snooze. Nightware like cosy pyjamas, bed socks and sleep masks make perfect gifts as well as scented candles and pillow sprays. For those who need a bit more help getting some shut-eye, sleep aids like soothing sleep lamps and sound machines might be a good choice.
Make it personal
Personalised gifts like photo albums and photo frames are great gifts, especially if you have the perfect photos to display inside. Other options include personalised photo books and calendars. You can also have items personalised and engraved like jewellery, clothing, mugs, cushions, kitchen accessories – the list is endless.
Bath and body
The simple act of having a bath is the perfect way to relax and unwind. Bath sets and bath bombs always make great gifts and for those who enjoy the ritual of a good soak, there are even specially designed bath racks with space to fit a mug of your favourite hot beverage and prop up a book – bath bliss.
Subscription boxes
You can now get subscriptions for almost anything: food, snacks, flowers, beauty, drinks, crafts, books. There are also some great self-care and wellbeing subscription boxes available like The Natural Wellness Box, The Box Of and Pause. The latter is run by the mental health charity, Mind, and the monthly cost of the subscription is in fact a donation to the charity, so it’s a win-win situation.
Health and fitness equipment
If you know someone who's into yoga and meditation you could surprise them with a new yoga mat, meditation cushion, yoga socks, or special yoga leggings. For the walker or runner in your life, you could opt for wireless earphones, trainers or a phone holder. Other ideas include reusable water bottles, fitness trackers, or back massagers (ideal for those of us who spend hours hunched in front of a computer!).
Home-made treats
Add a little creativity and heart to your gifts by making them yourself. Try your hand at making your own soap, candles or jewellery or if you’re better in the kitchen edible treats like jam, chutney or biscuits should hit the spot. If making things isn’t really your thing, you could always put together your own gift box full of your loved one’s favourite things or a self-care box full of thoughtful gifts like bath products, cosy socks, aromatherapy oils, and chocolates.
